Experience Symphony With Your Kids: All About Enjoying Music!

2 min read

You don’t have to be an expert in classic music to experience the love for symphony. Your child deserves to be introduced to different genres of music, and if you expect him/her to have some interest in traditional music, you must book tickets to an orchestra as early as you can.  At many venues, shows are designed and programmed with young musicians students, so the kids are going to have fun as they will relate to those on stage. In this post, we are sharing a few posts on how you can make the most of your time at the symphony concert with the kids.

Let your child know what a symphony is

Symphonies are often long, but some shows designed for kids can be shorter in length. Your child needs to know what a symphony is all about. They need to understand that enjoying an orchestra may mean sitting on the same place for as long as an hour, so make sure that they ease into the experience. Start by playing long pieces of symphony or classical music in it and bond over a box of pizza. See if the child is open to the experience, and if he/she is ready to explore the genre. Sometimes, this could mean spending two or three weekends before the symphony enjoying music at home.

Get the tickets in advance

Symphony tickets are often sold months in advance, and since this is your child’s first experience, you may want to get the tickets beforehand to find the right seats. Kids are always enthused by the idea of seeing musicians on stage, and they will only enjoy more when they get a good view. Let the child know that you are expected to reach the venue in advance, at least 30 minutes before the show.

Explain the details

Does your child know that talking, singing or even humming is not allowed in the hall? Eating is not acceptable, unless there is a break, so make sure that the child has eaten something before the concert. Do not explain anything during the symphony, because you don’t want to disturb the guests. Tell the child that he can ask all relevant questions later when he wants.

In conclusion
